Wayne Lorenzo Bearden was born September 23, 1932 to Albert & Vera Bearden. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Shelby, his children Connie and Dwayne, three granddaughters, Chelsey, Alexandria, & Meghan, and two great-grandsons Nathanial & Blake. He was a wonderful dad, grandpa, and PaPa.
Wayne was born in Gilbert, and raised in Chandler. He was the fifth of seven children. Four sisters, Ilene, Dorothy, Ila & Charlene preceded him in death. He is survived by two brothers, Allen (Sharon) and Gene (Sandy), and two brothers-in-law, Jim McNeely and Glenn McCollum, and many nieces and nephews.
Wayne went to Chandler High School, then joined the Navy in 1951 during the Korean conflict. While in the Navy, he studied Diesel Engines & Refrigeration. He used both for his life long career. He was a dependable man, hard worker and never without a job.
After Wayne got out of the Navy he worked in CA, then moved back to Chandler. He met Shelby, and after a whirlwind romance of 6 weeks, they married on Dec. 22, 1956. It was love at first sight for both of them. Even after his first stroke 5 years ago, he told Shelby daily how much he loved her and that he was the luckiest man alive.
Wayne was a devoted church worker and loved people. He always had a hug, handshake, or a pat on the back for everyone that came in his path. Wayne had many friends and will be missed so very much.
Just before sunrise, on Oct. 24, 2017, in the arms of the ones who loved him most – Shelby, Connie & Dwayne – Wayne left them in his gentle way to be with his Lord. We know he is in a much better place, but is so missed.
