Obituario de Charles E. Wood
EN EL CUIDADO DE

Weaver-Hughes Mortuary

Charles “Chuck” Wood, 81, passed away in his home on November 9th, 2021. Chuck was born on January 4th, 1940 in Iowa and had resided in California since he was four years old. He had resided in Yucaipa and Calimesa for over the past 28 years. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Juanita Wood; three children Leslie Guyton (Gary), Michael Melton and Robin Wilson; four grandchildren, Megan Holt (Dennis), Joseph Wilson, Heather Zamores( William), Alex Melton; and two great-grandchildren, Jackson Wilson and Fiona Holt. Chuck could always be found telling a joke to a friend or telling his grandchildren a wild story from his past. He attended high school in Banning, California which is where he was a singer and guitarist for a country band called “The Rebels” in the years 1956-1957. In the summer of 1957, he recorded a one hit wonder with the band called “Jody Reynolds and the Storms.” Following his band days, he joined the Navy in 1958 which is where he spent the next four years. After the Navy, he began a career in law enforcement. He was a homicide investigator for two years and a Sergeant in charge of homicide for three years in San Bernardino County. He also had a fun past time of racing cars for NASCAR and worked in the intelligence division for NASCAR in 1968. Following retirement from the force in 1984, he decided to begin working again in 1991 as a welfare fraud investigator. He married his wife Juanita in February of 1988 and from there he began his favorite job yet of being a grandpa. He enjoyed golfing, having big family dinners, fishing, and telling his newest joke to family and friends.

A celebration of life will take place on January 4th, 2022 at the home he shared with his wife and family.

Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.weaverhughes.com for the Wood family.
