Deborah “Debi” Gertrude (Brodeur) Lucas passed away at her Yucaipa home Friday December 17, 2021. Debi went peacefully with her husband Karl and faithful companions Rocket and Gunner at her side. The daughter of the late James and Rosemary Brodeur, Debi was born in Providence, Rhode Island on September 3, 1956. She was a resident of Warwick RI, Cypress and Yucaipa, CA. She is survived by her husband of 44 years Karl, Children: Jacob, Joshua, and Jill. As well as their spouses, Nichole, Shannon and Jeramie. She is also survived by her twelve grandchildren. Brodi, Hunter, Holden, Kelsey, Riley, Seth, Juliana, Janie, Jackson, Matthew, Lucas and Brenden . Debi also leaves behind her “big” brother David Brodeur and “little” sister Diane Lynsky (they will always be known as the “3-D’s”)!
Debi was a wife, daughter, sister, mom, and most importantly "Nana" to her grandchildren. Her creative ability was one of her most amazing skills. Her children and grandchildren’s lives were filled with creativity, crafts, and cooking. She was a bundle of energy creating in the kitchen all while making handmade decorations and restoring furniture and unique pieces. She could take a pile of sticks, branches and flowers and turn them into a work of art.
Before turning her attention full-time to raising a family and supporting the raising of grandchildren, Debi worked as an extraordinary executive assistant in a variety of settings and corporations. If you wanted someone to come in to organize and increase the efficiency of any operation, Debi was the person for the job!
Her quiet determination was an inspiration to all. Debi courageously battled cancer for eight years. During this time, she kept her family top of mind and took care of her day-to-day activities like it was business as usual. During her decline she continued to display her notorious sense of humor. Her strength helped many of us make our peace with her situation. We were blessed to learn many valuable lessons from Debi; her legacy of quiet strength, unselfishness, intelligence, and humor will live on.
While we are heartbroken and sad to say goodbye to Debi, we are comforted knowing that she is at peace and has met up with her mom and dad. A celebration of life will be held on Sunday March 20, 2022 in Yucaipa. In lieu of flowers please send donations to … Ronald McDonald House, or The American Cancer Society
“God looked around his garden, and found an empty place. He then looked down upon earth and saw your tired face. He put his arms around you and lifted you to rest. God’s garden must be beautiful, He always takes the best. He saw the road was getting rough, and the hills were hard to climb, So he closed your weary eyelids and whispered ‘Peace Be Thine.’ It broke our hearts to lose you, But you didn't go alone, For part of us went with you, The Day God called you home.” -unknown
In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the Trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we shall be changed. - 1 Corinthians 15:52
