John Joseph Reed

He was born in Wilkes Barre, PA in 1932. He married his beloved wife, Colleen Cundy on November 18, 1955 and had three children. John very proudly served in the US Air Force as a Flight Engineer for 22 years from 1951 to 1973, including service in Vietnam during the height of the war. He received many awards and commendations and traveled to many countries during his time in the service. After retiring from the Air Force in 1973, he served as a Deputy Sheriff for the County of San Bernardino for 13 years. He will always be loved and fondly remembered by family and friends for the many stories he shared of his life.

He is predeceased by his wife Colleen and daughters, Verlyn Reed and De Ette Kipp. He is survived by his son, Dion Reed, and daughter-in law, Karen of Yucaipa, CA, six grandchildren, Melanie, Linda, Dion, John, Kevin and Bryan, ten great-grandchildren and long-time family friend Linda “Sue” Hooper and her family.

Graveside service will be at Riverside National Cemetery, Staging Area 1, Riverside, CA, on January 16, 2015 at 11:00 am.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be sent to The Norton Air Force Base Museum, 1601 3rd St, San Bernardino, CA 92408.
