Rada Sue Hopkins, age 83, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 30, 2019 at the Golden Oaks Retirement home in Yucaipa. Rada was born on April 2, 1935 in Hollis Oklahoma. She moved to San Bernardino when she was about 4 years old, and graduated from San Bernardino High School in 1953. After graduation she married her childhood sweetheart; the love of her life and best friend, Jesse Hopkins. They were married for 65 wonderful years. They moved to Yucaipa in 1955 where together they raised 3 children. Rada was an old movie buff and could tell you anything about the classic movies. She enjoyed camping in their motorhome at the desert and riding off-road in their dune buggy with family and friends. In her younger years she also enjoyed water skiing and camping at Lake Havasu with her family. She laughed a lot and will be remembered by many for her positive spirit. Rada worked for the Yucaipa School District for 18 years as an attendance clerk and yard duty aide at Yucaipa Elementary and Ridgeview Elementary schools. She is survived by her husband Jesse, 3 children; Rhonda Grindell of Yucaipa, Randy Hopkins (Joy) of Yucaipa, Sue Skyberg (Dan Montoya) of Grand Junction CO, 5 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, brother Jim Smith (Margie) of San Bernardino, and many nieces and nephews, cousins, and close friends. She is preceded in death by her son-in-law Darrell Grindell and grandson Jeff Skyberg. Services are private.
