

Roger graduated from Pacific High School in 1965. He enlisted in the US Navy on April 4, 1967. He was stationed in Quinton, Vietnam as sheet metal welder. As he put it, he repaired the holes in boats when they came in. He received a National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with three bronze stars, and Republic of Vietnam Campaign medal with Device. He was honorably discharged on April 24, 1970.
Roger obtained his welding certification, which he still holds. Member of the Carpenters Union Local 944. He worked for San Bernardino Unified School District for 33 years in the school maintenance shop.
Roger loved camping, fishing, fly-fishing and archery. His favorite was fly-fishing on the Madison River. Even from his hospital bed, he threw his fly rod into the Madison. He loved shooting arrows with Tim and carp shooting in the local mountains. He is survived by his sister, Judy Reckard, brother in law, Rocky Reckard, niece Jennifer Rios, nephews, Brian Reckard, Jason and Daniel Wood.
