God saw fit to let this beautiful mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and friend go home to rest on September 25th, 2018. Bennie was born on September 25, 1936, in Hope, Arkansas to Hayward and Annis McFadden. She came to Yuma, Arizona with her family in 1952 at the age of 16. She married Lonzo “Bo” Nelson in 1956, to this union six children were born. She is preceded in death by her husband (Bo), mom (Annis), father (Hayward), brother (David) and sister (Glendora). She leaves behind to mourn her passing two brothers and a sister; Robert (Bea), Hayward, and Alice. Also, six children; Kenny (Meredith), Leon (Terri), Alvin, Don (Norma), Pam (Luis), Denise. In addition, sixteen grandkids, 40 great grandchildren, one great, great grandchild to come, and many nieces and nephews. Bennie worked hard all her life and retired civil service from MCAS in 1996. She enjoyed traveling, reading, gardening, and most of all her family. We will miss her unfiltered humor and her tenacious attitude in life. One of the things we will miss is her loving sarcasm and her sarcastic “Thank you Jesus”.
The services will be at Johnson’s Mortuary, Saturday, October 6th, 2018 at 12:00pm.
