She managed to handle the challenges of life with courage and grace. As a single mother, she showered her sons with love, acceptance, and affection, while making a living providing for them with everything they needed.
She owned a business for some time. She loved art work, hiking on weekends with her husband and dog out in the great natural areas around Yuma, and she loved the Beatles and saw them in concert at the Hollywood Bowl many years ago. She lit up any room she entered with her good cheer and beautiful smile.
She is survived by her loving husband Scott Sommers, sons Christopher and Richard Hanen, her brother Sterling Leavitt and a wider family that loved her very much. A light has truly gone out in this world and the world is a darker place because of it.
She will always be missed and never forgotten.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.johnsonmortuaryyuma.com for the Sommers family.
