Eleanor Thompson passed away on 8-13-2023 at the age of 105, in her home in Yuma. A member of the Greatest Generation, born in 1918, survived the depression and WWII. She saw amazing changes in this world in her lifetime. She was born in Des Lacs, North Dakota. She taught herself to play the piano and guitar and sang on a local radio station show with her sister Margaret. She lived in Minot, No. Dak most of her childhood with her sister and two brothers.
She graduated from high school, attend a NYA school and later went to a cosmetology and hair dressing school. She worked as a beautician with her aunt in Grenora, No. Dak. There she met and married Harry Angermeier a farmer, who went into the army/air corp. They had four children. In 1955 they moved to Yuma, Arizona. Harry worked at the Yuma Proving Ground until his retirement.
When Eleanor arrived in Yuma, she found there was no Girl Scouting program in Yuma. She started Girl Scout Lone Troop #1 and other Brownie troops. She served as a leader for many years, and also as a Cub Scout leader.
Eleanor and Harry were also foster parents for Yuma Co. for many years and many children stayed with them in times of trouble. Some have continued to correspond and to be a part of her life during their lifetimes. She and Harry adopted two children, Jared and Elisa.
Eleanor was baptized into the Church of Christ in 1961 and was a member of the Valley Church of Christ at the time of her death. She taught a bible class until she was 96 years of age.
Eleanor was widowed for six years and then married a second time to Charles Thompson of Kansas. Charles passed away in 1995. She returned to Yuma.
She enjoyed all kinds of puzzles, sewed quilts and working with children. She enjoyed being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughters, Patricia Wicker, Sylvia Van Etten, Mary Holland and Ruby Hooser, all of Yuma and a son Jared Angermeier of Kansas. She had 20 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 2 great, great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Harry and Charles, her son Lon Angermeier, daughters; Sharry Guertin, Elisa Beal and Helen Cesare, grand-daughter Angela Guertin and a great grandson Corey Angermeier.

Services will be held at Johnson’s Mortuary and officiated by Bob Lovelace of the Valley Church of Christ with internment to follow at Desert Lawn Memorial Park
