A devoted mother to her son, daughter and grand children, she was born on Sunday, February 20, 1938, in Cocorit, Sonora, Mexico.
A wake will be 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, January 8, 2016 at Johnson Mortuary Chapel, with the Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be 9 a.m. Saturday, January 9, 2015 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Desert Lawn Memorial Park in the Garden of St. Joseph in Yuma, Arizona. The pallbearers will be Mark Mendoza, Alex Atherton, James Cruz, Joe Gama, Alex Rojano and Mike Sandoval; with two honorary pallbearers, Charles Atherton and Efren Beltran.
Elvira will be missed by her loving family, her son, Alex Mendoza of Yuma, Arizona; daughter, Monica Cruz of San Diego, California; and her two beautiful grandchildren, Alex Atherton and Ava Cruz both of San Diego, California. She will be met in heaven by her husband, Henry Mendoza and her parents, Alejandro and Ana Beltran.
