He lived in the San Francisco Bay Area for most of his life with a portion of time spent in Tahoe, California and Oregon. He lived the last 7 years of his life in Yuma, Arizona-enjoying the desert he loved so much.
Gill lived life his way - which included motorcycles and 18-wheelers. Both building them and riding/driving them.
Gill had a love and respect for the First Nation’s way of life and tried to live his life to those standards. This gave him a sense of justice for the “underdog” and used that to be a Shop Steward while working for Coca Cola out of the Teamster Hall in Oakland, California. Gill was very proud to be a part of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Union.
Gill is survived by his wife of almost 20 years, Lori Dunn and his children: Sam Foster, Sonny Foster, John Wayne Amrine, Brandon Foster, Melessa (Foster) Bassi, Ian Foster and Bridgit (Foster) Bowers. He was the proud Grandpa to Sam and Jesse Foster (Sam), James Foster (Sonny), Izabella and Arianna Bassi (Melessa), Amori and Elijah Foster (Ian), and Aurora, Riley and Casey Bowers (Bridgit). He is also survived by his brothers Jack and Danny Young and his sister Elaine (née Foster), as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Gill had a silly, wonderful yet sometimes sarcastic sense of humor and showed it quite frequently. He also had a fascination with all things to do with World War II. He studied the battles and could tell you all about them.
He will be deeply missed by all who loved and knew him.
Bikers Prayer
May the sun rise in front of me, the rain fall behind me and the wind follow me.
May the angels guard my travels for they know what is ahead of me.
Keep me safe through rolling hills and swirling turns.
Let the eagle guide me to the mountain tops.
Let the moon's light guide me through the night.
Lord, thank you.
for letting me be a biker
Apache Prayer of Remembrance
Great Spirit, welcome our loved one into the land of the ancestors. May they be embraced by those who went before them and find joy in their reunion. Keep their spirit alive in our hearts and minds and help us to honor their memory with our actions. May we be inspired by their strength and wisdom, and may their spirit guide us always.
