Hilda's passion was books and numbers, dedicating her employment life to bookkeeping. After the birth of her sons, she became actively involved in the Somerton, AZ community. She was part of the city council and was instrumental in organizing the baseball winter league, Babe Ruth Bambinos, and the Babe Ruth League. Hilda dedicated her life to her children and was always looking out for the interests of others.
Hilda was preceded in death by her mother, Francisca Galvez Velasco and her father, Joe Ponce.
Hilda is survived by her sister, Bernie Ponce; sons, Benny M. Atondo, Frank R. (Jessica) Atondo , Angel S. (Manuela) Atondo Jr., Michael A. (Maricela) Atondo, and David J. (Brenda) Atondo. She also has 12 grandkids which she adored. She will be greatly missed and forever remembered!
Her viewing will be Thursday, July 22, 2010 at Johnson Mortuary from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Services will continue on Friday, July 23, 2010 at 9:00 a.m. Burial services will follow at Desert Lawn Memorial Park.
