Larry Keith Karp, affectionately known as Larry Bear, passed away on October 23, 2025, at the age of 67. Born on December 24, 1957, in Canton, Ohio, Larry was a gentle, loyal, and beloved individual who left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
Larry was a resident of Yuma, Arizona, and had a distinguished career at the Silverton Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, NV where he worked for 27 years. He was a loyal and decorated employee, and his colleagues held him in high regard. The Silverton Casino is hosting a Celebration of Life in his honor, a testament to the deep affection and respect they had for him.
Larry had a passion for classic cars and classic rock, interests that reflected his vibrant personality. Despite his large stature, which could be intimidating, Larry was known for giving the best hugs when they were needed, a quality that endeared him to many.
He is survived by his wife, Joan Karp; his children, Ashley Karp-Schmucker (Blane Schmucker), Larry Karp II (Ashley Gerber), Lindsey Karp, and Maygan Karp; and his granddaughter, Layla Schmucker. Larry is also survived by his brother Ray Horger Jr, his brother Thomas Karp, and his sisters Ann Adololff and Sandra Humerickhouse. He was predeceased by his sisters Fran Knoph and Carol Thornton. Larry also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, and cherished grand pups and cats who will deeply miss him.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Silverton Casino, MI Casa Restaurant, located at 3333 Blue Diamond Rd, Las Vegas, NV, on January 9, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm.
