

LeRoy Conrad, 83, died on April 4, 2012 at Kindred Homes. Born August 3, 1928, to Robert and Opal Conrad, Mr. Conrad moved to Yuma as a child and attended Yuma schools graduating from Yuma High School. At 15 years old, LeRoy went to work for the United States Post Office delivering special delivery mail. Drafted in to the United States Army he spent most of his tour of duty in Germany. Upon his return to Yuma he returned to work at the Post Office.
While married to Nancy Baker he had two sons Chris and Pat. Later he married June Jones and had one son, LeRoy Jr. Moving to Aurora, Colorado, Mr. Conrad continued to work for the Post Office and following his retirement in 1987 after 41 years of service he returned to Yuma.
A life member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, the 40&8, the Veterans of Foreign War and the American Legion, Mr. Conrad was active in the Yuma community. He served on most all of the committees of these organizations, was a part of the Legion Ceremonial Team for over 20 years, and proudly drove the 40&8 Locomotive to many schools and community events.
Mr. Conrad is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Opal Conrad, his sister Ruth Conrad, brother Lessell Conrad. He is survived by his son, LeRoy Conrad Jr. of Texas, brother Lowell (Jeanette) Conrad of California, sister Read (Kayo) Leatherman of Colorado, sister Mary Klein of Yuma, and sister-in-law Ethelene Conrad of Yuma, stepsons Rick, Charles, Bill and Jeff Jones, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Special thanks the ladies of Kindred Homes for their care of Mr. Conrad for the past 20 months.
Visitation for Mr. Conrad will be held at Johnson Mortuary on Monday, April 9th at 1:00 PM, followed by a service at 2PM. The family requests that in remembrance donations be made to a charity of your choice.
