It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of a cherished member of our family, Sue Mixon. To those who knew her best she was Nana or Nana Sue. She was a woman whose life was defined by love, kindness, and compassion and she was a beacon of warmth and touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. She was born February 14, 1939, in Florence, Colorado and died April 13, 2024, in Yuma, Arizona.
Sue exemplified the true meaning of selflessness, always putting the needs of others before her own. Her gentle spirit and caring nature were evident in every interaction.
A devoted Mother, Nana, and friend, Sue brought joy and comfort to countless hearts throughout her lifetime. Her unwavering love and support were constants in the lives of her family and friends.
Sue was an avid sports fan, loved her Arizona teams, Cardinals, Phoenix Suns, Diamondbacks and ASU.
She retired from Dateland School as a bookkeeper. (Previously a teacher’s aide, and school bus driver).
Sue’s proudest accomplishment she always said was her children, which followed with grandchildren and great grandchildren. Family was her life. Her large heart and sense of humor moved people to want to be around her, she was the best Mom and Nana.
Sue is proceeded in death by her parents Christine Burns and Homer Ritter. Brothers William “Billy” Ritter, Tommy Ritter, Robert “Butch” Ritter, and Donald “Corky” Ritter and Grandson Jason Koury. Beloved Aunt and Uncle Velma and Jack Vendetti and cousins Jackie Vendetti, Josephine Steffy, and Jimmy Vendetti. She is survived by her three children, Christi Koury (Pat), Bud Mixon, Patti Bratton (Ron), and cousin Betty Legan. Nana Sue had 12 grandchildren, 16 greatgrandchildren and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
As we mourn her loss, let us celebrate the remarkable life she lived and the profound impact she had on our lives.
Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, May 18 at Dateland School “Aldridge Community Center” at 11 AM.
