Refugio “Cuca” G. Maynard passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 6, 2014. She had just celebrated her 90th birthday on July 4, 2014. Born in Winslow, AZ, she chose Yuma as her home where she raised her three children and retiring as a Social Case worker.
She had a contagious laugh and a smile that would light up a room. She is survived by her son, Richard Maynard; daughter, Laura Persall; grandson, Pedro "Mike" Olague; brothers, Bobby Guerrero, Chano Guerrero and Larry Guerrero; and sister, Tela Bridgewater. Grandma Cuca has 6 great-grandchildren and a great-great grandchild on the way.
Viewing will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, August 15, 2014 at Johnson Mortuary Chapel, 1415 S. 1st Avenue, Yuma. Mass will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 16, 2014 at St. Francis Church, 1815 S. 8th Avenue, Yuma with burial to follow at Desert Lawn Memorial in the Garden of Serenity. Pallbearers will be, Andrew Olague, Michael Olague, Junior Olague, Henry Hernandez, Lorenzo Guerrero and Chano Guerrero.
