

Roberto P. Ramirez, 84, died peacefully in his sleep early Wednesday morning, June 22nd at his home. He was surrounded by his wife and children. He was born in Donora, Pennsylvania on June 6, 1927. He is preceded in death by his son, Robert and his parents, Irineo and Mariquita; brother Alfonso (Teresa); sisters, Concepcion (Macario) Garcia and Celia (Alfonso) Lopez.
Roberto was the owner/proprietor of Yuma Outlet Store, a western wear clothing store. He opened the business on downtown Main Street in 1959 and eventually moved to Western Village shopping center in 1978. During the depression his parents moved to Mexico from Pennsylvania and in 1944 he returned to Bisbee Arizona to pay off a family debt. While in Bisbee, Roberto met the love of his life, Lucrezia. They married in 1945 and moved to Yuma in 1946. Roberto and Lucrezia celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary on June 16, 2011.
When he arrived in Yuma he worked at Yuma Materials and Farley's Hardware before taking over a cancellation shoe store in downtown Yuma. Eventually he converted the cancellation shoe store into what became Yuma Outlet Store. Roberto's passions were his family and his business. He especially loved family gatherings and cooking for everyone. He took pride in serving the local community, winter visitors, and customers from all over the world.
He is survived by his wife, Lucrezia; his sons, Arnold of Phoenix, AZ and Louie (Maria) of Yuma, AZ.; daughter, Elsa (Vince) Apilado of Arlington, TX; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brother, Jose (Margarita); sisters, Mercedes (Alfonso) Fierro, and Rosa Ramirez.
Viewing will be held at Johnson Mortuary, Monday, June 27, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., rosary at 7:00p.m. The Mass will be at St. Francis of Assisi Church On Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. with funeral procession to follow at Desert Lawn Memorial Park.
