Rodney was born in Yuma, AZ on November 5, 1939 to AC and Bernice Haile. He was the first of seven children. His parents taught him the value of working from a young age, helping with various endeavors they started throughout his life.
Rodney attended Yuma Schools and graduated from Yuma High School. Upon graduating, he worked in the lettuce fields. The family then left Yuma moving to Minidoka, ID for a few years where he worked in the family restaurant, bar, gas pumps and store. Once the family returned to Yuma, he spent his time continuing to help with family businesses, worked on endeavors of his own, attended barber school and also joined the Army National Guard.
Later in life, he moved to Parker, AZ where he was a barber alongside his grandfather and uncle. While barbering, he built a car wash, had a fruit and vegetable store and also started his first nursery with Pat Fox, who has stayed by his side to help in the growth of his business. He eventually returned to Yuma, and in 1980 opened Yuma Nursery Supply with his brother Tony Haile until 1983, when his brother Mike Haile joined and became his business partner and right hand man for the last 40 years. The business today is a well known nursery in the Yuma community, with a straight run of Yuma's Best 25 years in a row. Rodney found much joy in watching the growth and success of his business. He was always a fair and honest business man, and with that became a well-respected person in the Yuma community and considered a friend by many.
Aside from all his accomplishments, at the end of the day Rodney lived a quiet, humble and private life. He was a man of few words, but had a great big heart. He did however love to crack a joke and could always make you laugh. The greatest gift he gave to anyone though was himself. He never started a family of his own and dedicated his life to his parents and siblings. After the passing of his father, he was with his mother for years until her passing. After she passed, he was there to support his siblings as well. He also helped many of his nieces and nephews. He was a one of a kind guy and the world just will not be as bright without him.
Rodney is preceded in death by his parents, AC Haile, Bernice Haile; sisters, Judy Haile, Ann Venable; brother, Tony Haile; sister in-law, Becky Haile; and nephew, Aaron Venable.
Rodney is survived by his brothers, David (Sharon) Haile, Gregory Haile, and Mike Haile; a son he never had, Pat Fox; nieces and nephews, Ray, Elizabeth, Maggie, Jocelyn, Sara, Jessie, Rodney, Andrew, Ryan, Justin, Jeffrey, Anthony, Kari, Scott; and many great and great great nieces and nephews.
