Vicki was born on April 25, 1957 in Phoenix, Arizona. She attended the University of Arizona where she met her husband, Bill. They married right after graduation and settled in Yuma in 1980.
Shortly after her move to Yuma, Vicki started her eighteen-year career in wastewater with the City of Yuma as a water quality chemist and eventually managed the wastewater treatment lab. Water was her first passion and she was involved in countless water organizations and received a number of accolades and awards at the state and national level for her leadership and service to the industry.
After her first career in municipal water, Vicki found her calling in agriculture and was a pioneer in food safety, helping establish the standards and practices the industry still uses today. She was a true advocate for Yuma agriculture and a tireless leader in food safety education. Above all else, she was most passionate about building community and mentoring others, shaping professionals across the industry.
With family and friends, Vicki loved hard and fiercely protected her people. She gave freely to others – her wisdom and knowledge, her support, her time, and her resources. She was the planner of trips and experiences and had a killer (sometimes hidden) sense of humor. She loved music and sports and enjoyed attending concerts and games with family and friends. There was never a dull moment when spending time with her. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Shannon.
She is survived by her husband William J. Scott, Jr., daughters Meghan Scott and Allyson Scott (Luis Holguin), grandchildren Sienna, Kate, Landon and Addison, her mother and stepfather Vicki-Lynne and John Reed, her sister Desiree (Dan Zinger), brother Sean Steele, and her nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2026 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Legacy Event Center at the Yuma County Fairgrounds.
