Rick was born on October 4, 1948 in Meridian, TX to Clovis Duncan Graves and Virginia Holt. He graduated from Richfield High School in Waco, TX. He married Linda Graves in 1969, they raised 2 children, Chris and Amy. He received his accounting degree from The University of Texas at Austin in 1972. He built custom homes in Georgetown for 30 years. After retiring from building homes, he found his new work family at Toyota of Cedar Park and worked there for the past 4 years.
Rick was the track operator of Capital City BMX from 1985-2006. He gave his time and love to the families and sport of BMX for over 20 years. This was his second family, he loved and cared for everyone he met through this sport. He is a member of the Texas BMX Hall of Fame and the ABA Track Operator Hall of Fame. He impacted so many lives through his passion for the sport of BMX.
He had a great love for his children, grandchildren and friends. He enjoyed sharing his love of the outdoors on his family’s land in Iredell, TX. Here he taught his kids and grandchildren how to fish, hunt and to enjoy the beautiful outdoors on the land he was always so proud of.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, mother, Virginia, father, Clovis, nephew, Todd, and niece, Lisa. He is survived by his brother, David Graves of Houston, son, Chris Graves and wife, Alison of Georgetown, his daughter, Amy Schroeder of Round Rock, and his 4 grandchildren, Alaina, Landon, Carter and Preston.
The family will have a private graveside service in Iredell, TX where he will be laid to rest next to his father.
