Fred D. Westbrook, age 75, passed away Friday, September 25, 2020. He was born on June 01, 1945 to Harold and Bernice (Carlson) Westbrook in Montague, MI. He was the business owner of Rag-Mop Cleaning Service which he operated for 33 years before retiring. On November 23, 1968 he married the love of his life, Pat Kruzona in Muskegon, MI. Together they cherished 51 years of marriage, full of love and laughter. Fred was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He received his bachelor’s degree from Western Michigan University. He was also employed by Human Services as a Head Start bus driver which brought him great joy. He enjoyed hobbies of golf, fishing, and target shooting. In retirement Fred and Pat enjoyed their time at The Voyager in Tucson, AZ where Fred was active in many of the Voyager’s activities. Above all things, he loved his family. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, amazing father, and a fun grandpa. His exuberant smile and laughter will be missed by all that knew him. He is survived by his wife, Pat Westbrook; three children Chad (Wendy) Westbrook, Brent (Inna) Westbrook, and Brian Westbrook; and seven grandchildren Alisha Martin, Mason Westbrook, Bella Westbrook, Ellie Westbrook, Abi Westbrook, Wyatt Westbrook, and Harlow Westbrook. He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister Loretta Schilleman. Fred will be cremated. A mass in Fred’s honor will be held at 12 pm on Saturday, October 3, 2020 at St. Francis Catholic Church (1025 S. Union Street, Traverse City), followed by a burial ceremony at Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will host a gathering at the VFW (3400 Veteran’s Drive, Traverse City) immediately following the burial service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be provided to St. Francis Catholic Church.
