Peg grew up on a farm in Iowa where she learned many of the skills that kept her flowers and houseplants and various family animals thriving for all of her years. After stops in Rapid City, SD and Denver, she and her husband settled in Fort Collins in 1955, where she lived the rest of her life. Motherhood began in 1958 and she devoted herself to two sons and a daughter, never missing a school program or sports performance.
Peg was an accomplished skier and golfer and is the only person in the family to have birdied every hole at City Park Nine.
She maintained old-world hospitality and kindness in her home and she took that kindness to the community, volunteering for many charitable organizations. After surviving breast cancer in her early fifties, she further inspired the family by earning an associate’s degree in computer programming. She went to work as a computer programmer and then bookkeeper and didn't stop working until well into her 80’s.
Her dream was to see the world and she made that dream come true later in life. Her travels eventually included most of Europe and South America, Australia and the Far East.
Peg was preceded in death by her parents Henry and Ardis Behrens and her daughter Karen Walters (Bruce). She is survived by two sons, five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
