Mary was born in West Orange to the late Daniel and Matilda (McCrea) Fittin. She graduated from West Orange High School, attended Caldwell College and studied religion at College of St. Elizabeth. Mary moved to East Hanover in 1957. She worked as a payroll/administrative assistant and taught CCD for many years. She enjoyed painting, sculpting, sewing, restoring furniture and dolls, playing tennis, as well as volunteering for Morris Museum festival of trees, as a docent for the Etruscan Exhibit, Patriots Path, school librarian assistant, and PTA fundraising.
The beloved wife of the late Harry Charles Wingerter, Sr., she is survived by her children; Harry Wingerter, Richard Wingerter, Jeanne Wingerter, Tracey Baxter, twelve grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
All funeral services are being held privately.
