Jeannine (Bernier) Kornbrath, 91 of Windsor Locks, CT died on Wednesday, March 10, 2021 peacefully at Hartford Hospital. Born in Bristol, CT on February 16, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Wilfred J. Bernier and Marie A. (Poulin) Bernier.
The family moved to Canada during the depression era and then back to Connecticut relocating in the Hartford area. She attended St. Ann’s School and then Mt. St. Joseph Academy for her high school education. General Electric employed her for both the Apparatus and X-Ray Department for 9 years.
After her marriage, her family was brought up in the Hartford area before moving to Plainville. While residing in Plainville she worked for P.A.R.C. and for DATTCO in New Britain before retiring to Florida.
If there was any time left over after meeting all of the day’s obligations in bringing up the family, she loved doing any kind of craft: crocheting, stripping and refinishing furniture, sewing her own clothes, making drapes and bedspreads, and working on her knitting machine and getting in some reading. She was a decent cook even though cooking was not her first love, but when the spirit moved her, she would cook up a storm and freeze it.
Jeannine was predeceased by her former husband, Raymond J. Kornbrath and her brother Joseph Roger Bernier. She is survived by her three sons and a daughter: Wayne Kornbrath of Newington, CT, Brian Kornbrath and his wife Barbara of Bridgeport, WV, Gary Kornbrath and his wife Donna of Myrtle Beach, SC, Kristin Venturini and her husband Anthony of Windsor, CT, her sisters Rejeanne LeFrancois of Raleigh, NC and Lorraine Bernier of West Hartford, CT. She is also survived by her grandchildren Michael, Connor, Dylan and Elyssa Kornbrath and Gianna and Caysee Venturini. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the National Osteoporosis Foundation, www.NOF.org.
