It is with great sorrow that the family of Alex Mykytiuk announces the news of his passing on April 4th after a lengthy battle with Parkinson’s disease. Alex was the youngest son of Philip and Anastasia (Wynnyk) Mykytiuk. He was predeceased by his parents as well as his father and mother-in law (Gregory and Dora Szymanski). He was the cherished husband of Diane for 56 years and the loving father of Donna (Brian) and Christina (Darren); grandfather to Brandon (Lily), Matthew, Natasha and Ryan; Tyler and Garrett; great grandfather to Isabelle and Austin, and brother to Lawrence (Anne), Ambrose, Father Cyril OSBM, and Basil (Joyce); brother-in-law to Walter and Stephen (Helen). He is also fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews, his cousins, and his many friends. Alex was employed at the National Research Council as a Research Technician for many years and he was a chartered member of St. Vladimir The Great Knights of Columbus Council. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the nurses, the personal support workers, and Dr. Emilie Daigneault at the Promenade retirement home for their support and care. The Panachyda service will be held on Friday, April 9, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. at McEvoy-Shields Funeral Home and the Funeral Liturgy will be held at St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Shrine on Saturday, April 10, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. Due to pandemic restrictions, a family service will be held, however, both services will be live-streamed for all to view at www.funeraweb.tv.
