Dolores Betty Ann Jones, age 88, of Mustang Ridge passed away on Monday, April 5, 2021. Dolores was born in Taylor, Texas on December 20, 1932 to Eddie Felder and Annie Maresh. She grew up in a large family, having 5 brothers and 3 sisters.
Dolores grew up in Taylor and then the family moved to Austin. She went to school in Austin and graduated from Austin High School in 1950. She married Charles “Chuck” Jones on October 11, 1952 and they were happily married 53 years. She and Chuck had three sons, Steve, Mark and Mike. Since Chuck was in the Air Force, they were fortunate to travel and live in numerous states and countries.
After high school, Dolores worked at Merritt Schaefer & Brown in downtown Austin and later went to work for Crown Furniture and Jewelry, where she retired in the 1990’s. They lived in Austin after Chuck’s retirement and moved to Mustang Ridge in 1984. She and Chuck enjoyed many activities together including bowling, visiting friends and playing “42”, trips to Las Vegas, or simply family gatherings at their home. After Chuck passed away in 2005, Dolores stayed busy and continued her bowling leagues and many tournaments. She also enjoyed taking trips with her close friends, doing crossword puzzles, watching the Gameshow Network, going out to eat Mexican food, getting her hair and nails done, shopping and buying scratch-off tickets. She also got great joy out of seeing her grandkids and great-grandkids. They were her pride and joy, which was evident by the pictures she kept in her wallet and on the walls in her house.
Dolores was strong in her convictions and her faith. She had a kind and gentle spirit. She was a loving wife, as well as a nurturing and compassionate mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Chuck; her parents; as well as her brothers, Bert Ehrlund, Troy Thorp, Kenneth Thorp, Harvey Thorp; sisters, Teresa Borders and Tommie Blakeway.
Dolores is survived by her sister, Peggy Shelton and husband, Ronnie; brother, P.B. Thorp and wife, Evagene; sons, Steve Jones and wife, Sandra, Mark Jones and wife, Kerry, Mike Jones and wife, Dawn; grandchildren, Broc Jones and wife Kim, Matt Jones and wife Ashley, Kelly Rodriguez and husband Ross, Melanie Jones, Charlie Jones; great-grandchildren, known to them as GiGi, include Madison Jones, Bryson Jones, Sage Carpenter, and Sterling Jones.
She will be truly missed by all her family and friends, but rest in the assurance that she is now with her Lord and Savior.
Funeral services arranged by Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 2620 South Congress Avenue. Graveside Service 10:00 am on Friday, April 23, 2021 at Cook-Walden Memorial Hill Cemetery on N IH 35, Pflugerville, Texas.
