Anastacia De Luna Lopez, 98, passed away into the arms of the Lord on April 27, 2021. She was born in Hidalgo, Texas on January 22, 1923. She grew up in McAllen. She was inducted as the first Hispanic into the National Honor Society of McAllen High School and graduated in 1943. She married Miqueas R. Lopez, Jr. in October 13, 1946 and they were married for 47 years until his death.
Anna was employed by J.C. Penney’s, Singer Sewing Center, and Cloth World where she was a bridal consultant. She was an accomplished seamstress.
Anna was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, neighbor and friend. Anna was a member of Westminster and First Presbyterian Churches in Corpus Christi. She enjoyed serving the Lord and praying for others. She wrote notes to comfort those in need and to celebrate with others. Anna was a member of Presbyterian Women, the First Presbyterian Church Garden Club, the Circle of Love, and Mended Hearts. She served as a Cub Scout leader. She traveled in the U.S., Puerto Rico, and Europe.
She will be remembered as a servant of the Lord, a caregiver, a mentor, and a good friend to many. She cooked and baked for her neighbors, and her neighbors took care of her for years. Alicia Greses, Henry Horne, and Canuto De Luna enabled her to stay in her home for a majority of her later years.
Anna was preceded in death by her parents, Canuta and Refugio De Luna, her husband, Miqueas R. Lopez, Jr., her brothers: Trinidad De Luna, Francisco De Luna, Julian De Luna, Arturo De Luna, Jose De Luna, her sisters: Leonor Peña, Conception Guerrero, and Amalia De Luna.
Anna is survived by her brother, Canuto De Luna, her children: Bertha Hinojosa (Mariano) Baton Rouge, LA, Miqueas Lopez (Nancy) Houston, grandchildren: Mia Zeisig (Craig) McDonough, GA and Mark Hinojosa (Andrea) Riverton, Utah, great-grandchildren: Grant Zeisig, Carter Zeisig, Gabriella Hinojosa, Lucia Hinojosa, and her nieces and nephews.
The life of Anastacia Lopez will be celebrated with viewing on Tuesday, May 4, from 12 noon to 8 p.m. at Funeraria Del Angel on 4901 Everhart, 78411. Services will be held on Wednesday, May 5, at 9 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church on 430 S. Carancahua St., 78401 followed by graveside services at 11:00 a.m. at Memory Gardens Cemetery, 8200 Old Brownville Road, Corpus Christi, TX, 78415.
