Monica "Oma" Knopf, age 77 of West Olive, passed away May 25, 2021 due to complications from cancer. Monica escaped from East Berlin with her late husband, Eddie, in 1961 and eventually made her way to Holland, MI in 1970. Monica worked at Transmatic for 21 years and retired in 2009. She enjoyed traveling, camping, and being with her grandkids.
She will be missed by her children Steven Knopf (Jennifer) of Denver, CO, and Helga (Knopf) Roelofs of Byron Center; grandchildren Alex Knopf (Brooke), Ben Knopf (Julie), Sarah Roelofs, Stacy Roelofs, and Stephanie Roelofs; great-grandson, Cooper Knopf; and cat, Ginger. She is preceded in death by her husband, Eddie Knopf; son-in-law, Robert (Bob) Roelofs; and parents Erich and Anna Sennesch.
Visitation with friends and family will take place from 6-9 p.m. Sunday, June 13 and 10-10:45 a.m. Monday, June 14 at Cornerstone Church (S. Wyoming campus) 2730 - 56th St. SW, Wyoming MI 49418. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, June 14 at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Monica's memory may be made to Cran Hill Ranch or the American Cancer Society.
