Walter retired from KCS Railroad after 47 years of service. He served in the United States Navy as a Military Police Officer. He was a Mason and member of Fair Park Lodge No. 436 F.& A.M. Walter was an avid hunter, loved yard work and cross word puzzles. His favorite pass time was watching "Gunsmoke." He watched every episode more than once. Walter's famous saying was "A Dollar Two and Ninety Eight."
Walter was preceded in death by his parents; son, Stanley Phiffer and grandson Christopher Phiffer.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley A. Phiffer; son, Steve Phiffer; grandsons, Stephen Kyle Cabrera and his wife Celina, Matthew Phiffer, Aaron Travis Phiffer; great grandson, Christopher Broly Phiffer; daughter-in-laws, Anita Phiffer and Donna Phiffer.
A Celebration of Life graveside service for Walter will be held Tuesday, June 15, 2021 at 3:00 PM at Centuries Memorial Park, 8801 Mansfied Road, Shreveport, Louisiana 71108.
