Oklahoma City resident, Robert Jack Ferguson, age 92, passed away Sunday, June 13, 2021. Jack was born January 12, 1929 in Putnam, Oklahoma to Edgar and Docie (Miller) Ferguson. He attended Piedmont Public Schools and graduated in 1947. He joined the US Army in 1950 and was part of the 45th Infantry Division. He was deployed to Korea in 1951 and was honorably discharged in June of 1952. Jack met the love of his life, Ruth Ann Shriver, at the skating rink. They married December 27, 1954 and made their home in Oklahoma City, where they raised two sons. They were lifetime members of Putnam City United Methodist Church. Jack was an electrical engineer and headed the design and installation of lighting/electrical systems, mostly working alongside with construction firms like HTB. He had a passion for automobiles and working on anything with an engine. Jack was very active in his sons’ lives, coaching their baseball and basketball teams. He also ushered at the OU football games for 25 years with the Boy Scouts of America. Jack loved his family and his country and would do anything for either of them. Jack was loved by so many and will be deeply missed. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Alma Mohr; and brother-in-law, Joe Frank Shriver. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Ruth Ann Ferguson; sons, Robert Edward Ferguson and Jeffrey Dale Ferguson; niece, Carolyn Wolf; and other family members and church family. In lieu of flowers consider donations to Putnam City United Methodist Church. A Celebration of Jack’s life will be 11am Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at Bill Merritt Funeral Service.
