Julio L. Anguiano (Sgt. US Army Ret.) passed away on October 6, 2021 at the age of 82. Julio was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Guadalupe and Antonia Anguiano; and his brothers, Guadalupe Anguiano Jr. and Marcos Lopez.
Julio is survived by his wife, Hope Anguiano; his daughters, Sandra Ramirez and Frances Maya (Steve); his six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and one great-grandchild on the way; his brothers, Simon Anguiano, Robert Anguiano, Isadora Lopez; his sisters, Nellie Solano and Virginia Acosta; and his numerous nieces and nephews.
Julio served in the United States Army for 24 years. While in the service, he had several stateside assignments, two tours in Germany, one tour in Korea, and three tours in Vietnam. He was the recipient of two Bronze Stars with (V) Device and several other medals.
Julio retired from the Army in 1985. About a month after he retired, he started to work for the American GI Forum (a veteran organization), and in 1992, he worked for the United States Postal Service until he retired in December of 2003. Julio was a Lifetime member of the VFW Post 9186 and was the commander from July 2012 to July of 2013.
Due to restrictions on public gatherings, the Visitation at Funeraria del Angel Trevino – 226 Cupples Road 78237 – will be limited to 100 people in the building at a time.
The family will be receiving friends on Wednesday, November 3rd from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM. On Thursday, November 4th, a Funeral Procession will depart at 9:15 AM and arrive at Holy Name Catholic Church – 3814 Nash Boulevard 78223 – for Mass to 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery – 1520 Harry Wurzbach Road 78209.
