Elizabeth Anne Howarth, better known to her family and friends as Betty or Bet, was born in Liverpool England on February 1, 1930 to Nellie and James Beckett. She “popped her clogs” on August 7, 2019 at the age of 89 years. Betty, husband Bryan, and two daughters moved to Vancouver Canada in 1953. Two more daughters followed. After Bryan passed away in 2005, Betty moved to Kelowna in 2008 and enjoyed the dry warmth of the summers ever since.
Betty was a daughter, a wife (to Bryan), a mother (to Linda, Janette, Susan, and Kathryn), a grandmother (to Steven, David, Michael, Faye, Alyson, and Chris), a great-grandmother (to Brianna, Jamie, Patrick, Madison, Ryder, and Brody) and a friend to so many. She was sweet and gentle, kind and loving. She always had a smile, could cook up a storm out of nothing at all, and always made friends and family feel at home and welcome in her home. She loved to travel (and did), and just a few days before she passed she was talking about doing one more cruise. She had the brightest blue eyes.
Friends and family will gather to honor her on Friday, September 6, 2019 at 2:00 PM in the Tea Room at First Memorial Funeral Services, 1211 Sutherland Avenue, Kelowna, BC.
