My name is Mardene Mendoza. I am a friend of "Smokeys" from junior high school. I had been in touch with him off and on over the years since the late 1970s I just found out he passed away. At first I was In disbelieve and said no, we need to confirm Its the right person. They said he was a fire fighter.  I knew then it had to be him. I reached out to a couple of the friends that Smokey grew up  on Market Street with  and they had not heard  either. It makes me really sad I missed his services!! My heart goes out to his wife, his mother his brother Christopher, his little sister and all of his children. He was a very good man and  a awesome father! I will remember Rob (Smokey) in my prayers and he will remain in my heart forever.  RIP Smokey, You will be missed! 

I know I have already posted a comment but since I dont see any limitations I have more I would like to share this man should never ever be forgotten he gave so much of himself unselfishly to so many people many of which he never even knew I read the comments here posted by his family he was truely loved by so many and he earned a lot of respect his dedication to his children and his job as a fire captain is what made him an amazing human being they must have needed a special angel and he was chosen our loss was for a reason he is now watching over all of us and guiding those  that need help I believe he is continuing to save lives so when u feel I miracle happen u will know it was robin that made it happen we cant see him but he is far from gone.

My big brother Robin. Not a moment goes by that I don't think of you. Growing up you have been my guide, my mentor, my protector and my friend. You've always been there when I needed you in any situation big or small and without you my life will never be the same. I will always hold dearly and close at heart the times we spent together. I will miss our brief calls or the 5 minute visits just checking on eachother as brothers do. I will miss you dearly my brother and will carry you in my thoughts and heart everyday. I love you brother, Until I see you again.

My uncle Robin was a great guy, he cared about his family and would always bring light of the worst times. Whenever there were tough times you could count on him to crack a joke to make us smile. I'm gonna miss him but I know he's with grandpa and they're both watching over us. There's no replacing either of them, but there's always the memories we shared with them and they're in a special place our hearts.

To my son Robin, whom I love very much. He was a son any mother would be proud of. He not only remembered me on Mother’s Day, but every day of his life. He knew no stranger, when they needed his help he was there to give support full of encouragement and compassion. There to guide them the believe in themselves for a better future. Even when he was in danger, he would put another person’s life ahead of his own.

Cousin, our journey in this life was far and few, however never forgotten. You had a personality that can not be replaced, duplicated or repeated....yup you’re one of a kind. People were drawn to your humor....and yes that runs in our family. To know of your accomplishments makes me so so proud, first being a great DAD, loving your family and knowing you accomplished what you spoke of when you were a young man.  And STILL serving to the end. Saving 4 people’s lives. You have inspired me to follow in your path of also donating my organs. I remember when Cousin Robin was born as I was 11 years old. Such a cute little guy that I loved to hold!  Every Sunday the family would get together at Our grandparents house and all us cousins would play together. Those are moments I will treasure! 
I lost touch with my fathers family over the years and I’m so thankful we’ve been able to reconnect. At Uncle Martin’s celebration of life I visited with Robin and he introduced me to some his beautiful daughters. He was so proud of all his daughters and we promised to get together.  
Talking to his family and fire family made me proud to say this amazing man is my cousin ❤️  
Rest In Peace my dear cousin!  You touched so many lives and will be greatly missed!

Robin was the one who opened our eyes to seeing how blessed we are to have so many beautiful cousins. He would tell us it's up to us to keep the family together. Gone too soon! The last time I saw you at Uncle Martin’s celebration of life, we talked about getting together under happier circumstances. I was looking forward to getting reacquainted after everyone going their separate ways in our adult lives. I will forever cherish the fun times we had with all the cousins growing up together and playing at our grandparents home. I enjoyed listening to the stories from your fellow firefighters, hearing how successful you were in your dream career. Rest In Peace cousin!

Dear uncle Robin,
As I have grown up with a man like you in my life I have always noticed a gentleman, an honest man, and one who always had faith. I have seen first-hand how great you were with my little cousins. Vitamins in the morning, pray before we ate, and I have to say you were the ultimate hairstylist! 
Spending time with you was something I always looked forward to. If I had a bad day all I had to do was call and you answered. You have been such a loving uncle to me. Always protected me and gave me the best advice. I’m going to miss our car rides, our conversations, the nights we both stayed up late while I did my homework and you worked on your own tasks. Your invented-meals were the best during those nights! 
I remember there had been a day when I was trying to put makeup on in the morning , I told you because I needed it and you replied with “But why, makeup is for clowns.” I couldn’t help but think to myself “only my uncle Robin!” 😌
I’ll never forget the day I earned my associate's degree I was so excited to send you a picture of me in my cap, I felt proud checking off one of the goals you wrote down for me. Telling me you were proud made the moment that much more special. I told you several times that you were expected to be there when I earned my bachelors, you told me you wouldn’t miss it and I know you’ll be there in spirit ❤️ 
I told my brother, that I hope one day he can be the type of uncle you were to me, to my own daughter one day.

After wiping away my tears that don't seem to stop, I can see clearly that there will always be another day, but it will be without you. I feel incredibly blessed to have been a part of your life.

I will always cherish the childhood memories of all of us cousins growing up together. From running from the tumbleweeds  to breaking my toe riding a big wheel because Robin pushed me too fast down the hill.  We had a lot of fun as kids.  So nice to finally meet all of Robin’s kids and see how they each have a bit of their dad in them.  You all had a very special dad. So proud of all that my cousin accomplished in his life.  We may not have seen each other much in our adult lives, but  he was  and always will be very special to me.  I’m sure he is with Uncle Martin up in Heaven.  He will not be forgotten. Dear Robin..my life will be incomplete now that your not here.There is a gap in my heart. We once were very close. Life took us in different  directions. I remember as kids we spent alot of time together at grandma and grandpa's house. Mercy ,Vero,you  and I. You were such a travieso...so proud of who you became. Our grandparents called you Pa'jaro. My Tio Robin always knew how to make me laugh. He was the life of the party and had so much love to give. I am going to miss the sound of his voice always making jokes and laughing, his advice and his hugs. I love Tio. 

On behalf of my father Ricky Cervantes and family we are deeply sorry for your lost Monique, Nadia and little ones. We share with you this tragic time. May God give you all strength to overcome this time. Please know that even though we only saw each other very few times we are here to support you as family that we are. Your dad was a true hero and his memory will always be alive in our hearts, we will always remember his charisma, jokes and bright smile he had. I knew rob for over 20 years my best friend lived across  the street from him  what impressed me most about rob  was his love and dedication  for his children he had seven beautiful daughters whom  he adored  I loved watching him play with the little ones in the front yard they loved him so much my heart really aches for his family rob really made his life count for something he touched so many hearts helped so many people . I would like to say to his entire  family I am so sorry for your loss he was a great man and will be missed by so many people. 

I will miss my good friend, I have such good memories with Rob , he was such a good friend of mine and a good friend to me God bless him and God bless his family
