She was born in Janesville, WI, Nov. 20, 1944 the daughter of Reynolds L. and Helen G. (Granger) Callison. She graduated from Lanphier High School and then attended Brown’s Business College.
Dawn began her professional career in the local medical field, then worked for the State of Illinois for over 30 years, retiring in 2002 from the Department on Aging.
Dawn loved and cared for her family a great deal, often times working two jobs to provide for them. Most of all, she loved spending time with her sister, Cherri, and “The Girls” drinking wine and dining out. She loved music, especially playing the piano and dancing. She enjoyed “gaming” at the various river boats and gaming parlors around Springfield and was a previous league shuffleboard player in Springfield.
Dawn is survived by her two children; Tracey A. Diczban and Todd (Nancy) Shellhammer; two granddaughters: Mallory and Abby Shellhammer; a sister, Cherri Williams, all of Springfield and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Yvonne Callison and her son-in-law, William Diczban.
Cremation rites will be accorded by the Bisch Crematory.
A memorial service will be held at 4:30 pm Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2019, at Bisch Funeral Home West 2931 S. Koke Mill Rd. Springfield. The Reverend David Wells officiating. The family will greet friends following the service until 6:30 pm.
Those who wish may direct memorial contributions to the Shriners Hospital for Children, Sangamon County Animal Control, or a charity of their choice.
