A warm smile, a helping hand, a shared evening with a glass of wine, a dinner out with friends, beach trips to Destin and Panama City Beach, FL, a trip to watch the Steeple Chase at Callaway Gardens or Rome, GA, a day spent watching The Kentucky Derby at Avalon, a trip to the mountains, hiking, and hot tub trips from years ago, visiting with friends in Marietta for Grill & Chill, a walk on Main Street in Roswell, GA for Alive After 5, a speaking engagement at the many REIA ( Real Estate Investor Association), trips to Destin with his step-brother, Kevin, holding his daughter Christina proudly as a new father, and visiting family in Birmingham, Montgomery, and Andalusia, Alabama. These are just a few of the memorable things Doug enjoyed doing during his lifetime.
Doug was born in Montgomery, Al. After attending the University of Alabama where he obtained his Bachelor of Science degree, Doug moved to Birmingham. In his many years, Doug moved around including working in New York but he finally resided in Sandy Springs, GA since the early 2000’s. Doug’s occupation was a commercial lender. Doug’s nickname at the University was “DOC” and he was a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity (also referred to as “PIKE”). The family wishes to thank all of his frat brothers for reaching out during DOC’S illness and for their generous comfort and support.
After a very unexpected illness and three weeks at Emory Hospital in Decatur, GA, Doug passed away due to a Hemorrhagic Stroke on October 19, 2019. Doug will be joining other family members in heaven including: his father, Alto Martin from Andalusia, AL; his mother, Lois Price Martin also from Andulusia; his brother, Allan “Keith” Martin from FL; and mother of Christina Martin, Beth Hinton Martin from Birmingham, AL
Doug’s surviving family includes his daughter, Christina Martin Robinson and her family of Elkin Park, PA; step-mother, Lucy Price Martin and step-brother, Kevin Price both of Andalusia, AL; in addition to his extended family of friends in Atlanta, GA exceeding over 100 close friends.
A Celebration of Life Event will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2019 from 2:00-6:00 p.m. at Huey Luey’s in Sandy Springs for family, friends, business partners, and fraternity bothers/sisters.
Doug will be greatly missed and always remembered.
