Jannie Elroy Johnson Mix, Born October 24, 1935 in Wilmington, North Carolina. Passed away on November 3rd in her home peacefully. She was the oldest daughter of Clevie Olinger Smith and Edward Barch Johnson, Edward Johnson “Corkey”, Elizabeth Johnson Russell “Betty”, survived by her youngest sister April Olinger Johnson Henderson.
She was a woman of great service. As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served in many callings; including Counselor in the Primary Presidency, working in the Young Women Program, as Stake Missionary, and Children Sunday School Teacher, which was her favorite calling.
She served as an officer in the PTA at Chestnut Street School and was always helping in her children classes at school.
She worked at the Credit Bureau in Wilmington, and Eldercare.
She attended New Hanover High School, graduated in 1953. She loved school.
She loved reading, loved to play Scrabble, and loved to tell flannel board story to kids at school. She was a very good artist. She loved to be in plays. She loved musicals; her favorite was “The Sound of Music”. She loved to sew for herself and family. She loved to make costumes.
She was a great Mother and Grandmother. She loved her children, her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren.
She is survived by husband of 60 years LaMoyne Phillips Mix Sr “Tom”, LaMoyne Phillips Mix Jr (Tamara), Jonathan Mix, Amber Egbert (Maurice), and Todd Mix who proceeded her in death, her grandchildren Heidi Broadbent (Jared), Tyler Mix (Tiffani), Jillian Ashley (Colby), Dallin Mix (Stephanie), Morgan Schwab (Jim), Megan Egbert, Gerilyn Ingalls (Micah), TJ Mix, Serena Egbert, Todd-Thomas Egbert, and eight great-grandchildren, which she was amazed to live long enough to see.
Her legacy lives on through all her stories that she loved to tell to her children and grand children. She will be missed and always loved.
Viewing Saturday, November 9, 2019; 9 am to 10 am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Saints, Funeral at 11 am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints church on 514 S College Road. Burial at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Wilmington, 1311 Shipyard Blvd, at 1 pm.
