Mr. Butler, a WWII veteran, was a retiree of the U.S. Postal Service and Progressive Federal Credit Union. The Mobile native will be remembered as a loving, kind, intelligent, helpful, caring human being who loved the Lord, his family, his church, his friends and his community. His numerous civic and social affiliations over the years include: Commonwealth National Bank; Dearborn YMCA; Penelope House; Emerson School Alumni Association; Strikers Club; Postal Club.
Mr. Butler leaves to mourn his passing his wife of 54 years Mary Wilson Butler, his children Victoria A. Butler, Dr. Winifred (Alan) Green, Dr. Walter (Carol) Little as well as his grandchildren Noah Butler, Kyle (Taylor) Givens, Cecile Green, A. Wilson Green, Walter Little, III, Joseph Little and Julian Little.
He was preceded in death by his parents Wiley Nathaniel Sr. and Susie Devaughn Butler, his daughter Harriett Renee Butler, his wife Harriett Connor Butler, his siblings Aaron Butler, Marshall Butler, Dr.Ralph Butler, Harriett Goode, Carolyn Montgomery, Kathryn Butler and Ardell Turner, niece Benita Ruth and nephew Alton Ruth
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the 10:30 am funeral hour on Wednesday, November 6, 2019 at Big Zion AME Zion Church, 112 South Bayou Street, Mobile, AL. Interment to follow at Pine Crest Memorial Gardens.
