James Martinelle Petersen, age 91, of Sterling Heights, Michigan, passed away on November 3, 2019. He was born in Detroit on November 26, 1927 to Albert and Grace Petersen. Beloved husband of the late June; Loving father of Karen Paille, Lori (Chris) Sajewski, James A. (Elena), and Robert; Cherished grandpa of James, Heather, Jonathon, Maxwell, Raymond, Alexandria, Scott, David, Austin, and Mia; dear great-grandpa of Rachel, Katie, Robert, Cooper, and Mason.
Jim enlisted in the Army on April 2, 1946, and received the American Theater Ribbon and Victory Medal World War II decorations during his time of service. He then went on to attend Wayne State University and obtained a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Business Administration. Jim went on to work for Ford Motor Company in Shelby Township, and retired after 35 years. In his spare time, Jim also loved to golf, bowl, and play Pinnacle with his longtime friends. He was a very gentle and loving father, grandfather, great grandfather and father-in-Law. He will be dearly missed.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, November 7, 2019 from 2-8 PM at Resurrection Funeral Home, 40800 Hayes Road, Clinton Township, Michigan 48038. A brief visitation will continue on Friday, November 8, 2019 at 10 AM until time of funeral service at 11 AM, also at Resurrection Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
