Joyce will be missed and is remembered fondly with love by many. Her Sister Nancy Stitch, son Kevin Spence, his partner Jennifer Monforton and their children, Madison Spence, Connor Sharkey and Claire Sharkey. Her Stepchildren David Pears (Tammy), Nicole Pears and her son Jason, Shani Spence and the Fallis clan, her CBC family and many more.
Joyce was a caring person who led a life filled with people, adventures and things that brought her joy and happiness. She had a lifelong love of travel and adventure. Working with British Airways and Air Canada in her early career before joining The CBC where she worked as a production assistant on Take Thirty and The National News. It was at CBC where she met her soul mate David Pears, marrying in 1978. Together, the adventure continued, traveling extensively and moving between Toronto and Vancouver several times. In her later career she continued to do what she loved working as a travel agent.
The simple things in life brought Joyce joy. At an early age she fell in love with the cinema, becoming a movie buff and loved to read movie star bios and mysteries. She loved animals, especially cats and puzzling with her sister Nancy. Her sense of humour and good nature were appreciated by all who knew her. A city girl at heart she also appreciated the finer things in life and together she and David developed a love of art, picking up unique pieces in their travels.
Her family would like to extend an open invitation to their friends and all who knew and loved Joyce to celebrate her life, share stories and memories over (as Joyce would say) a Nosh and Bevvy! We hope to see you Friday, November 22 at 2pm. Burrard Yacht Club, 10 Gostick Place, North Vancouver.
“The best things in life are the people you love, the places you’ve seen and the memories you’ve made along the way”
