On July 25, 1946 she married Lester F. Langhans Jr in Elmira, NY. Together they raised four children, Lester F. Langhans III of Cape Coral, FL, Jeanne Cole of N. Eastham, MA, Ken Langhans of Murrieta, CA, and Kim Richey of Tabor City, NC. She is survived by them all as well as by their children, Kristen (Brian) Bishop, Dan (Sarah) Langhans, Ellen Langhans, Lindsay Cole, Matthew (Kathleen) Cole, Casey Cole, Dustin Richey and Dylan Richey.
Lois was predeceased by her brother William Keeler, and by her husband Les. She is survived by her brother Doug (Carol) Keeler of Sun City West, AZ, and her sister Virginia (Berry) Barnes of Fitchburg, WI as well as by many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Because of her faith, Lois’s life was one of giving and supporting. In WWII she was a nurse aboard an Army ship, bringing wounded soldiers home from Cherbourg, France. She was one of the three women founders of the Lower Cape Outreach. She was an Eastham EMT and worked at Outer Cape Health. Many days were spent with Les doing hurricane relief in Homestead, FL. Together they spent countless hours building and remodeling at Camp Aldersgate in RI. Her favorite committee at the Eastham United Methodist Church was, of course, the Missions Committee.
To those who knew and loved her, Lois will most be remembered for her unending concerns for each and every one, always wanting to know what was going on in each person’s life. She was the best cheerleader and support you could ask for…right up to her final words. She was our “rock.” When asked how she wanted to be remembered, Lois said “Please say the following about me: She loved Jesus, who died for her, which led to involvement in various mission endeavors and her deep love for her husband and family.”
For the past number of years, Lois has been a resident of Heritage Cove in Ft. Myers, FL and attended the Faith United Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers, Lois asked that donations be made to Camp Aldersgate, 1043 Snake Hill Rd, North Scituate, RI 02857, or to the Michael H. Cole Charitable Giving Foundation, P.O. Box 1858, N. Eastham, MA 02651.
A memorial service will be held at the Eastham United Methodist Church on December 15th at 1PM. Burial will be private. For online condolences, please visit www.nickersonfunerals.com.
