Edwin grew up on a farm in Bethel community near Logansport. Edwin began work at PPG in 1947. He retired at the age of 61, after working for PPG for 41 years. He took a year off and kept Brandi and fished. He then began a new career at Calvary Baptist Church, working there for more than 13 years. Preceded in death by wife Nan (Joan) Geneva Grantham, two sisters, Rosemary and Doris Hooper and his parents, Preston and Manila Grantham. He is also preceded in death by three beloved brothers-in-law Robert Hooper, Billy English, and Ed Attwood
Edwin was a veteran of WWII, being drafted right out of high school at the age of 18. He was a Sunday school teacher and a deacon at Calvary Baptist Church for many years. He also found great joy in coaching baseball and football. He coached both for many years before retiring from coaching after the 2005 football season.
Edwin married the love of his life, Nan (Joan) Gill on September 24, 1948 by Rev. Claude Spearman. In the summer of 1949 Edwin was lead to the Lord. Rev. Claude Spearman played an instrumental role in leading Edwin to the Lord.
Children are daughter, Jayne Grantham Wimberly and husband Rodney, sons Steve Alan Grantham and wife Sunni, Gary Glen Grantham and wife Shari, Jon David Grantham and Kim, 16 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and a daughter-in-law, Renee Culpepper.
A service celebrating the life of Odis Edwin Grantham will be held Monday, November 11, 2019, 2:00 PM at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home, Shreveport, LA. Officiating will be Rev. John Larry. Interment will follow in Centuries Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 1:00 PM until service time.
