Preceded in death by mother, Grace, he will be deeply missed by his devoted wife and soulmate of seven years, Deidre; loving son, Bryan, daughter-in-law Nicole, and delightful grandson Matthew; loving sister, Diane (Pat) Thurlow; brother Robert (Jane); sister Heidi Ketroser Massey; father Irwin; loving in-laws, many cousins, nephews and nieces, especially Ryan Thurlow and Rubin Latz, who have been so supportive; other extended family and many dear friends including special angel, Reva Lear.
David was born in 1951 to Irwin and Grace Ketroser. He graduated from St. Louis Park School, attended Stanford University and the University of Minnesota, where he earned his Medical Degree, specializing in Neurology. He later earned his law degree at William Mitchell of School of Law. He was a licensed accessibility expert and was close to finishing a Master’s Degree in Bioethics from the U of M (#overachiever).
David’s intellect and intellectual curiosity was unmatched. He worked hard, and accomplished more in his way too short life than most would in two lifetimes. He was a “wing walker,” not being afraid to create something out of nothing. He changed personal injury law by his work with facet joint injuries. He was always willing to confront an injustice. The first part of his career he excelled at Medical Malpractice Law, having the perfect skill set for that type of practice. He also did qui tam work, and started to change the world through his ethical ADA/MHRA work and advocacy.
To know David was to love, admire and respect him. He was not only an astoundingly brilliant person, but also very humble and grateful. He never mourned what was taken away from him by his disease, but rather constantly stated how lucky he was. He never stopped fighting.
He was a loyal friend to his Park High classmates and professional colleagues, he was loved by his patients, and his in-laws cherished him. He enjoyed serving on the Equity Advisory Board of the Metropolitan Council, and made many friends there.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in his name to the MS Society of MN, Abbott NW Foundation, or Bridge of Peace Syria (a nonprofit humanitarian organization run by dear friends).
