Hazel was born in Akron, Colorado on September 25, 1921 to Harold and Bertha Daily. She married Melvin C. Kaiser on June 1, 1947 in Brush, Colorado. Hazel and Melvin moved from Brush to Barnesville, then Gilcrest, and finally settled in Greeley.
Hazel graduated from Colorado State College of Education and was a dedicated teacher. She later worked at the University Bookstore, until she retired in 1987. She was an Elder of First Presbyterian Church, a member of the American Association of University Women (AAUW), Weld County Republicans SEA, a Scroll and Fan honorary, and the Knife and Fork Club.
Hazel loved being involved in her community, and with her family. Being a teacher, learning and knowledge was important to her, as was evident through her various club and church involvements. She wanted to feel useful and was always very hospitable – her house was always open for her loved ones. She also enjoyed playing cards, restoring antique furniture, and singing.
Hazel is survived by her children, Ron (Alison) Kaiser and Marilyn Smith; siblings, Olive Daily-Orr, and Phillip Daily. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Andrew (Jolona) and Gregory (Amber) Smith, Hayden Madison, and Kaitlyn Eliana (Ellie), as well as several great-grandchildren; Jordyn Smith, Addison Smith, Haley Smith, Braden Smith, and Annbell Smith.
Hazel was preceded in death by her husband Melvin, her brothers Henry, Harley, and John Daily; sister Helen Daily-McCall, and her parents.
The family would like to request any memorial donations be made to Alzheimer’s Association, in care of Allnutt Funeral Service.
