Thomas Dale Strickland, passed away on Sunday May 10, 2020 in Kansas City at the age of 74. He was a proud Decorated Veteran who served in the Marine Corps on active duty from December 1965 to December 1967, including a tour in Vietnam where he earned his Purple Heart. He then continued in the Marine Corps Reserves until December 1971.
He worked for Allis-Chalmers (AGCO) from 1974 until they closed in 2000 and made many close friends who gave him the nickname lightning.
He lived in Independence, Missouri but loved spending time in Deepwater
and with all 10 of his grandkids, hunting, fishing, and being on the beach. He also loved to take long rides with his wife listening to music and enjoyed spending time with her. He was a loving Husband, Father, Grandfather and friend and had a one of a kind sense of humor.
He is proceeded in death by his parents Albert C. Strickland and Audrey E. Strickland (Thomas).
He is survived by his loving wife Lanikai Strickland, Sisters’, Mary Terryberry (Dave), Jean Lowery (Don), Son, Eric Savaiinaea (Melissa) Grandchildren Benjamin, Beau and Stella, Daughter, Tanya Killingsworth (Brendon) Jordan, Preston, Zack and Kirryn, Daughter, Terri Jordison (Chris) Connor, Adrianna and Gabrielle, along with lots of Nieces, Nephews and Cousins.
Visitation will be Wednesday May 20, 2020 at 9:00 am to 10:30am at Newcomers Funeral Home on Noland Rd. Independence, Mo. (Facial covering required to enter building, 10 persons or less, social distancing will be requested)
Burial to follow at Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Deepwater, Mo. at 1:00 pm.
