Bena Chyz, 92, of Clinton Township, Michigan passed away peacefully on the morning of Monday, July 20, 2020. Bena was born in Detroit, Michigan on November 20, 1927, the daughter of the late Camillo and Maria Carlini. Bena was united in marriage to Ernest Chyz and celebrated 55 years of marriage before his passing in 2005. Bena was a devoted member to her faith. She began her charity work with St. Malachy Church. She worked in the pantry and clothing closet to help raise money for the poor. She also devoted time to the Night-In-Gail Nursing Home for the sick for over 10 years. In 1980, she was the coordinator for the Mother of Guadalupe and received a blessed image of her from the Basilica of Mexico for her service. With St. Edmond Church, Bena was a minister of communion and delivered to the homebound. She also worked in the food pantry and worked Bingos to help raise money. She also used her time and talents to create Infant of Prague Statues that she gave to family and friends. Bena enjoyed her charity work and had many wonderful experiences sharing God’s blessing.
Bena was the loving wife of the late Ernest Chyz, beloved mother of Gerold (Wendy) Chyz, Duane (Andrea) Chyz, the late Donald Chyz, and David (Lynne) Chyz. She was the cherished grandmother of Adam (Stephannie) Chyz, Matthew (Shannon) Chyz, Eric Chyz, Jessica (Luke) Collins, Justin Chyz, Maria Chyz, and the late Rosemary Chyz. She was the dear sister of Mary Saroli, the late Joe Carlini, and the late Frances DeAngelo.
A Rosary will take place on Thursday, July 23, 2020 at 9:30 am at St. Paul of Tarsus Catholic Church, 41300 Romeo Plank Road in Clinton Township. A Funeral Mass for Bena will follow at 10:00am. A private committal service will be held at Resurrection Cemetery.
