Erning was born on June 10, 1942 in Bayugao West Santa Cruz, Ilocos Sur, Philippines to the late Julian Purganan and Juliana Guieb. He and his family immigrated to the United States in April 1993 and made Kent, Washington his second home.
Prior to immigrating to the United States of America, he held supervisory positions working for the Philippine government’s Department of Agriculture. His job provided him opportunities to travel all over the country and was sent as a Philippine delegate to Egypt and Indonesia for international conferences.
He was an adventurous traveler and nature lover. He had visited many countries and marveled at the beauty of God’s creation. He enjoyed getting together with family and friends over traditional Ilocano dishes. An avid sports fan, he enjoyed watching all types of sports, especially the Seattle Mariners baseball team. Yet, without question, his greatest sources of joy were his grandchildren.
Erning is survived by Astrida, his wife of 55 years. His memory will forever be held and shared by his children and their spouses, grandchildren, siblings, and many relatives and friends for whom he cared and loved deeply.
funeral services held at Greenwood Funeral Home in Renton, WA. He will be laid to rest following the funeral service at Hillcrest Burial Park Kent, WA.
