It is with loving memory that the family announces the passing of Leona Ruth (Fry) Chubb on August 9, 2020. Leona was born on October 20, 1924, first daughter to Jacob and Mary Fry of Lipton, SK. On November 14, 1945 Leona married William Robert Chubb, youngest son of Robert and Josephine Chubb of Avonhurst, SK.
Bill and Leona farmed in the Avonhurst community until 1980 when they retired to Fort Qu’Appelle. Leona took the position of head cook at Echo Lodge Special Care Home where her good old fashioned German meals where enjoyed by the residents for over 10 years.
Leona was predeceased by her parents; her husband Bill; daughter Shirley and grandson Scott. She is survived by her son Allan (Pat) Chubb of Fort Qu’Appelle, SK and daughter Linda (Arlen) Masson of Airdrie, AB.
Also carrying on Leona’s legacy are 12 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, Allan and Pat’s daughter Natalie (Chris) – Dakoda, Teal and Cooper Sinclair of Regina, SK, daughter Cindy (Corey), Zachary and Reid Parker of Lumsden, SK, son Daryl (Karen) and William Chubb of Irricana, AB and son Patrick (Joanne) Chubb and Kyle Lefebvre of Regina, SK. Linda and Arlen’s daughters – Brandon (Chris), Colton, Riley and Wyatt McLaughlin of Stafford, England, Taylor (Wil), Blake and Scotlyn Wanotch of Airdrie, AB and Kendal Masson of Airdrie, AB. Leona’s life is also celebrated by her 4 sisters – Irma Sauer of Lipton, SK, Marjory Fry of Regina, SK, Louise Senft of Lipton, SK and Doreen Reisdorf of Medicine Hat, AB.
The family wishes to thank the staff of All Nations Healing Hospital in Fort Qu’Appelle, SK for their care and kindness during Leona’s stay there and to the staff of BICC for their caring service to Leona during her final days.
The thoughts and prayers expressed by family and friends is greatly appreciated.
The funeral service was held in Regina Funeral Home, 4001 East Victoria Avenue, Regina, SK. on Monday, August 17, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Joshua Kurtenbach and Pastor Brian Rosnau officiating. Interment in the Regina Memorial Gardens followed the service.
