Theodore Vellios, 82, of Harrisburg, passed away Wednesday, October 21, 2020 at home surrounded by his family. He was born November 28, 1937 in Diplatanos, Greece; he was the son of the late Anthony and Vasiliki Vellios. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, gardening and fishing. Ted immigrated to the United States from Greece in 1955, originally settling in Philadelphia until he married Catherine, his wife of 51 years, and moved to Harrisburg. He spent most of his life in the restaurant business, founding and operating Ted's Tavern, Progress Family Restaurant and most recently Ted's Bar and Grill, from which he retired in 2010. He was a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, Camp Hill. He was preceded in death by his wife Catherine Sgagias Vellios. He is survived by his daughter, Vicki Vellios Briner; 3 sons, Anthony Vellios, John Vellios and George Vellios (Allison); 7 grandchildren, Theo, Katie, Sylvia, Christopher, Nicholas, Markella and Gabriel; brother, John Vellios (Dora); and sister, Eugenia Psarras. A viewing will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, October 26, 2020 followed by the funeral service at 12:00 PM, at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 1000 Yverdon Dr., Camp Hill. Burial will be at East Harrisburg Cemetery.
