strong beautiful lady who lived a life full of adventures. She was a great grandmother,
grandmother, mother, daughter, aunt, sister and friend. She loved spending time with friends
and family. Omelia was Catholic and although she went thru tough times, she always had a
strong faith.
Born to Juan and Elisa Martinez on May 4, 1923. She was raised on a farm in Mora New Mexico
with her siblings Emilio, Francisquita and Miquelita. She lived there until she moved to
California in the 50’s. She was married at 16 to Concepcion Sisneros and had 2 sons and 1
daughter. Her sons, Joe and Leroy Sisneros both have passed away and her daughter Maryann
Pena lives in Redding Ca. Omelia is also survived by her grandsons, Eric and Troy Sisneros,
Robert Pena and granddaughter Cynthia Pena and has several great grandchildren.
Years later she was married again to the love of her life William Burke. They settled in Redding
Ca. She was a retail clerk in a pharmacy until together they decided to open a bar. First the
Golden Room and then The Run Way. They enjoyed working together as well as traveling,
dancing and even a little gambling. She was also a proud lifetime Elks Member. Omelia loved to
“dig in the dirt” and garden. She was known for her immaculate homes inside and out. She
loved to eat out and go shopping, and you couldn’t miss her beauty, spicy personality or funny
sense of humor.
After losing her husband Bill to cancer in 1985 she decided to close the bar and start flipping
houses. She was the ultimate entrepreneur! She did as much of the work herself. It kept her
busy and was something she enjoyed for many years. In 2012 she moved to River Commons
Retirement home where she lived out her final days. She loved the staff and felt at home there.
She lived a long full life and we as a family are going to miss her.
Per her wishes we will be having a private viewing on Thursday November 5,2020 from 3-7pm
followed by her services on Friday November 6, 2020 at 10 am at 1522 Lawn Crest Funeral
Home Redding, Ca.
