Johnie Lorraine Cook, age 76, (Wichita, Kansas) passed into his eternal reward on November 2, 2020. He is survived by his wife, Diana Sue; his son Damon, and four grandchildren: Connor, Nicholas, Madison and Harrison.
Johnnie was born and grew up in Eldorado, Kansas. After he graduated high school in 1962 he joined the U.S. Air Force and worked in communications. After his time in the Air Force, he worked at Lasater's Men's clothing store where he was the primary window dresser and excelled at retail sales due to his amazing personality and charming smile. Johnie and Sue met in 1970 and hit it off. Their romance led to marriage in September of 1971. While continuing to work at Lasaters, he attended photography school and was hired by Rorabaugh & Millsap Photography Studios, after his instructors recommended him as top in his class. After honing his skills at Rorabaugh & Millsap, Johnie went to work at Beech Aircraft. His talent, personality and professionalism was soon noticed by Olive Ann Beech. She would request that Johnie was the photographer that accompanied her to all important events. Johnie loved being a photographer so much that he wanted to challenge himself and decided that he would also photograph weddings, sports teams photos, senior portraits and any other opportunities that arose and was truly amazing at photography. Brides from weddings he photographed would recognize him years later and thank him for such amazing photographic memories of their special day. He won countless awards for his photos. Johnie was not only a member of Greater Wichita Professional Photographers Association, but also held the office of treasurer. Johnie ALWAYS had the best jokes to tell, and enjoyed the happiness he could bring to people's lives.
Service and interment will be at Lakeview Gardens Chapel and Cemetery in Wichita (12100 E. 13th Street N., Wichita, KS 67206).
